Kidney Patient Care
I'm excited! The August issue of Nephrology News & Issues carried the first in a series of articles presenting a new approach for Nephrologists that comes directly from my professional sales experience; improved patient care from proven sales methodology.
I was keynote speaker at the Kidney Disease Economics Conference last October in Baltimore. I spent the first day attending working sessions of physicians, their staff and patients. It was a wonderful experience. This is the way I always prepare for a speaking engagement; it gives me the insights I need to make a positive difference to those that attend my presentation and I learn a lot. In this case it resulted in me scrapping my planned Keynote content and speaking without notes, from my heart and experience, not as a kidney disease patient, but as a salesman at the counselor level.
In those working sessions I listened and finally raised my hand to offer thoughts on helping the Nephrologist to success in helping the newly diagnosed patient, begin the journey of life, without functioning kidneys. Before I listened to those wonderful, caring people, I did not realize that life without your kidneys does not have to be a painful journey to the grave. I learned that if the patient begins with the correct knowledge and guidance, a full and rewarding life is possible. It will have its inconveniences and discomforts, but it will be a good life.
My keynote presentation was fun for me, and the audience. A chapter in my book, The Perception Of A Difference, was my guide as I explained how the questions that work so well in the first sales meeting with a prospect, can produce great results for the Nephrologist and patient the first time they meet.
The result was several requests that I expand on my presentation in articles in Nephrology News & issues, a highly respected trade journal in the Nephrology community. The first of those appeared in the August Issue and the second is in the September issue.
If enough of you are interested in reading the series and cannot find the magazine, I will make them available. The beautiful thing is, that what works in professional selling, also works in patient care.
If you go to Nephrology News and fill in the information they ask for you should be able to read the articles, if that doesn't work just click on wes at perceptionofdifference dot com and talk with me.
